Originally from the beautiful North Island of New Zealand, I've traveled far and wide around the globe, only to find myself right back where I started my travels at the tender age of 17. Since moving to the States in 2013, I've lived in San Francisco and in Orange County before moving up to Malibu, California to start a life with my husband. In 2016 I completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training with Mia Togo at YogaWorks in Santa Monica. Initially I began the training to deepen my own practice, to give me something to focus on as I was going through some seemingly insurmountable life-changes, but what I ended up getting from the training was so much more than that.
Through working with Mia, continuous Svadhyaya (self-study,) and an eagerness to grow, I discovered a love of teaching. With this knowledge, I began teaching yoga as I continued refining my own skills through a 300-hour Teacher Training program with Mia as my mentor once again.
With a past career in media and a Bachelor of Communications and Marketing, I thrive in a collaborative environment. I love teaching groups and private clients because as a Yoga teacher, I am also always a student and therefore always have something to learn. I predominantly teach Vinyasa Flow but work with each of my clients one-on-one to achieve their individual goals. My style is alignment focused because I believe that safety is paramount, but I like to be creative with my sequencing, pulling from my background of dance to move the body in unique ways that enable students to be more in touch with their true self.
Because that's the goal, really. To get in touch with your truth. That's why I do Yoga anyway. Not only to keep my body and my mind happy and healthy, but to strip away the layers and the lie's that I use to cloud my inner voice and my own potential. Because when we can connect with our truest self, the good stuff and the bad stuff, and accept all of it, then there is nothing holding us back from experiencing true joy in life.
And that's what life is all about. Joy.
